When Life Feels like Ross and a Stuck Couch: Here's What to Do.
Apr 11, 2025
If you're a Friends fan, you definitely remember the iconic “PIVOT!” scene—Ross, Rachel, and Chandler trying to wrangle a couch up a narrow stairwell. It's hilarious… until you realize it kinda feels like your own life.
Lately, I’ve been feeling a lot like Ross, shouting “PIVOT!” over and over again. Can you relate?
When Life Becomes the Stairwell
Life has this funny way of tossing unexpected changes our way—curveballs, plot twists, full-on reroutes. Sometimes, it feels like we’re trying to jam a giant metaphorical couch through a space that’s just not made for it.
But here’s what I’ve learned:
Pivoting isn’t a failure.
It’s not a setback.
It’s how we move forward.
Even when the stairwell feels way too tight.
My Real-Life Pivots
The past few years have been full of pivots for me—some small, some life-altering. And while they haven’t always been smooth or pretty, they’ve brought me something unexpected on the other side: growth, clarity, and opportunities I never saw coming.
Sometimes we have to shift directions. Sometimes we have to let go of “how we thought it would go” and embrace what’s next. Heck, sometimes we even have to cut the couch in half. (Okay, maybe not literally—but you get the point.)
Keep Moving
So, if you’re in the middle of your own pivot—whether it’s in your business, your relationships, your identity, or just how you’re showing up in the world—I want you to know you’re not alone.
Keep going.
Keep adjusting.
Keep trusting that something amazing is waiting around the corner.
