Watching People Grow - The Best Part of Leadership Training

There’s nothing like hearing positive feedback after working with a group at a Leadership Retreat. It’s inspiring to see how participants grow, learn, and connect better with their teams. But for me, the true reward isn’t just in the words they write afterward—it’s what happens right there in the room.
From Silence to Sharing
In a recent retreat, I had a room full of people who, if you know the DISC assessment, were mostly S’s and C’s—the quieter, more introverted types who prefer to stay out of the spotlight. For anyone who’s worked with these personalities, you know that getting them to speak up or participate actively can be a bit challenging.
But then something amazing happened. By the end of the training, these same participants, who were once hesitant, began to open up. They started sharing their thoughts, offering insights about one another, and connecting in ways that went beyond the surface. Watching that transformation unfold in just a few hours was nothing short of magical.
Real-Time Growth Moments
One of my favorite parts of this work is witnessing that shift from quiet reservation to confident expression. In that 4-hour session, I saw a group of individuals grow from being inward-focused to openly sharing, encouraging, and truly engaging with one another. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do.
Final Thoughts
At the heart of it, these retreats aren’t just about learning new leadership skills or enhancing team dynamics—they’re about real growth. Watching people step out of their comfort zones, discover new things about themselves, and connect on a deeper level makes these retreats so meaningful.
Growth is a beautiful thing, and being there to witness it firsthand is my absolute favorite part of leading these trainings.
